I created my Reddit account 11 years ago, on December 27, 2011. Like many, I started as a Lurker and grew more comfortable contributing to various communities.
I've found great groups of people with similar interests on Reddit and have benefited professionally and personally from the content found on the site and their thoughtful input.
Professionally, I've solved complicated problems and assisted others on subreddits like
autocad,

videoengineering. As a Deep Sea Video Engineer, it's been gratifying to see Redditors at
deepseacreatures reposting our work.
The communities at
covidlonghaulers,
CPAP and

CODWarzone and associated communities has been helpful. And there's no shortage of silly videos and memes that my wife has grown weary of watching! With all I've gotten from the site, it's time for me to delete my account.
I do not come to this decision lightly. I have enjoyed visiting Reddit almost every day. However, recent unethical behavior towards independent app developers (and, by extension, the user community), specifically by Reddit CEO Steve Huffman
u/spez, has left me no choice. These talented developers have poured years of their efforts into fantastic tools that helped us access content and moderate subreddits.
You can read all about these events by searching for "Reddit API Changes Apollo" or at this representative article:
https://www.wired.com/story/the-reddit-app-war-is-getting-messy/ I have come to terms with the fact that my contributions here and my use of the site are Reddit's actual product and asset. I can not in good conscience allow Reddit to profit from my use and contributions to their platform. Remember, if the product is free, the product is you.
Most won't struggle with the ethical dilemma of choosing between something you enjoy and doing what is right. Others don't use third-party apps or don't care. Everybody has to make their own decision, and I've made mine.
I had hoped to post this to many of my favorite subreddits, but some have already gone dark in response to this situation.
I deleted every post and comment I made since 2011 (thanks, Power Delete Suite!). I deleted my account on June 10, 2023.

2023.06.10 20:34 esfeld Attempting the genealogy of over 130 missing Navy service members.
My great grand-uncle, Joseph Anton Pfeifer was killed in World War II on the USS Turner.
On January 3rd of 1944 the Turner exploded in the New York Harbor. It is believed that there was an accident with the disassembling of ammunition. Most of the crew were very young, in their late teens or early twenties, and poorly trained.
According to the JAG investigation, 139 officers and enlisted men went down with the ship. However, after speaking to some family members, I believe a few were recovered shortly thereafter. I believe the current number MIA is somewhere between 130-139.
Unbeknownst to the families, divers conducted salvage operations on the Turner and recovered an unknown number of remains. They are buried in four graves at Long Island National Cemetery.
For the Department of Defense to consider disinterring these graves for identification, they must have methods of identification for at least 60% of people who could be in them.
I am building family trees for all of the missing service members from the Turner in an attempt to locate family who would be willing to donate DNA reference samples. I’m also trying to find pictures.
Currently I have a Facebook group, website (which isn’t done yet) and a tree on MacFamilyTree.
If anybody has suggestions for this project or would like to contribute, I would love to hear from you!

I want to bring up a topic for discussion that is rather peripheral to the usual subjects here, but I think it's salient in a way. I'm posting this here, even though there may be more subject-appropriate subs, because I think the discussions happening here span the entire subject realm in a very positive and productive way. This is a long read, but I think it will be worth your time and consideration as a thought experiment.
Many of us are aware of the comet Enki and its role in causing the Younger Dryas and collapse and erasure of any pre-Ice Age civilizations. Around 12000-14000 ago, it began to break up and change its orbit after drawing too near to the sun. Many large fragments from its meteor stream bombarded the northern hemisphere and causes massive tsunami, volcanic and seismic events globally. We still find caves pack with jumbled bones, mud and trees to this day due to the "mud floods", wind storms and ocean waves that it generated.
Let us presume for argument that some of the more robust relics like the Sphinx and other stone ruins survived. I postulate that those may have already been obsolete antiques and ruins even before the impacts, just as the would likely survive another similar catastrophe in the future. So where did the rest of any per-impact high technology go? Even if some portion of those societies went underground and/or off world in time, much would have been left behind in the strata.
Some of course may have been long ago recovered and horded by any number of people - and I would absolutely, without exception, consider any self-aware non-homo sapiens intelligences including sufficiently advanced AI to be people - so if they exist, it would be reasonable to presume there are plenty of incredible relics that have been found, passed down and are now hidden in the hands of various modern government, aristocrats and or non-human entities.
Some would remain recoverable in the present day just due of the size of the planet and our huge current human population, compared to any point in our planet's history. There are now simply more people digging and looking than ever before. Perhaps we are starting to see more of that now, with more average people discovering more and more unusual objects.
But there are forms of technology that are more subtle and likely more centrally located than cities or craft or exotic power plants, even in our own current civilization. This technology generally produces incredible and constant amounts of thermal energy, requiring massive amounts of constant cooling.
This technology is already a critical linchpin of our world right now. If it were to fail, we would be plunged backwards in incalculable ways, perhaps by hundreds of years. Of course, currently we distribute that technology all over the world, in different forms, formats and vintages, using a wide range of materials and implementations. That wide and diffuse distribution makes it incredibly robust to even the worst kinds of disasters and may be ultimately our saving grace, should such an event ever occur again.
Perhaps we should thank our innate practicality and hyper-independence for that. We allow our technologies to evolve in a heterogeneous manner and are not quick to abandon the old as we integrate the new. We thankfully are less obsessed with perfection than we once were as a species, as we have learned that the entire concept if perfectionism is truly a poison and ultimately the enemy of anything that is good. In my opinion, for any being or civilization, Profection is the ultimate and eternal goal, while Perfection is nothing more than a dead-end death-trap that is typically merely used as a weapon by the mighty against the weak for the purpose of control, ego and selfish greed.
Now we are already entering a time when practical considerations such as climate change, resource scarcity, corporate monopoly and political needs are driving this core civilizing technology toward centralized consolidation, homogenization and relocation to a place that is more conducive to those needs. This is already occurring now, with new facilities being built as a type this.
I do not mean nuclear reactors, underground bases, or anything of the sort. I am referring of course to server farms. Our civilization now utterly depends on them in almost every way. They require huge amounts of space, network connectivity and cooling. If they are to be optimized and truly reach their highest capabilities, our society believes they require local stability on every level and must be centralized to keep them neutral and manageable. They are being built well above the arctic circle at an ever-increasing rate. Soon, the antarctic may follow as the southern hemisphere's location of choice. It's quite obvious and rational to build them there. What could go wrong?
But what happens if those regions were to be again bombarded and liquefied by a series of large comet fragments and then their remnants buried and ground to muddy paste under billions of tons of glacier ice in the aftermath? What would future humans find if we were to search those areas now? Would we find useful metals, exotic composites and functional remnants? Could any of those facilities, systems and/or their associated administrative AI or very limited on-site organic staff members survive?
Now, of course such a comet strike likely could have been prevented by an advanced space-faring civilization, but what if they had instead put their entire attention on other forms of travel and development earlier in their develpment that allowed them to neglect more "primitive' kinetic and mechanical forms of technology? What if achiving world unity as a singular coherent civilization allowed them to begin advanced industrial development as an overly-unified and too-singular whole, rather than a collection of robustly independent rivals and allies? What if through perfected society, consensus and ease, they had already fully centralized all of their technological and industrial base into a single self-administered top-down system. Or what if, for whatever reason, they simply did not try very hard to prevent it, or even simply allowed it to happen, for any number of reasons we can only speculate on?
Perhaps we should continue to keep our server farms local, not be so quick to adopt "thin-client" computer systems, keep our technology heterogeneous and our administrative systems independent and heterodox. Perhaps sometimes efficiency is its own greatest weakness. Perhaps we should continue to explore material science, solawind power and other means to make local computation sustainable and performant, thereby safely rendering mass-centralization both unnecessary and impractical. "Optimization" as a concept requires that all factors be considered, not just economics or administrative convenience. Perhaps “Working from home” isn't just better for the worker, but also for the greater good? Are there other lessons we can draw from this thought experiment?
Just something to ponder.

2023.06.10 20:32 k8minesearch Here's 8 years of lyme knowledge before reddit goes
Hi all,
I've had different usernames on my Lyme journey and have been lurking, hanging out, and posting on here for so many years.
I was born & raised in NJ. Bitten by 10-15 ticks in one of the highest lyme rate counties — all in one day. I never got a rash. Didn't develop symptoms. I got sick the day I turned 23.
A few days later, I moved 600 miles away from the area I grew up. I was immediately thrown into some of the worst stress of my life. My mom was being abused, I couldn't find work, I tried working as a stripper (only lasted a day—it was horrible).
I partied like anyone else who was 21 and 22. I liked getting drunk off beer. The final year before I got lyme, I was doing small doses and moderate use of MDMA every other months (never drank during it.)
On the night of my 23rd birthday, I drank like 7 baybreezes through the night. I was pretty damn drunk. Went to bed and woke up feeling funny. I had gotten sick but not hang over sick. It felt like a really bad flu.
And the symptoms kept getting worse and worse.
And kept lasting for weeks, then months.
FULL LIST OF SYMPTOMS I HAD (that went away with time and treatment): severe knife stabbing joint pain, breathlessness, soaking through my sheets at night, UTI problems and crazy amounts of bladder shedding with no actual UTI, hip pain, missing menstrual cycle for 6 months, swollen knees, ear ringing, ice pick headaches, couldn't read because letters would move around a page, and having a several month bout of EBV when I was 25-26, inability to grip or use my hands, pins and needles in various places.
I'm probably missing some symptoms, but its been such a long time now.
FULL LIST OF SYMPTOMS I DEAL WITH DAILY NOW: constant ear ringing (*maybe due to ABX use for embedded UTI as well as lyme), mild and occasional joint pain, mild herxes to new herbals or ABX that last 1-3 days max, can't consume gluten or alcohol, chronic UTI problems currently being treated by a new doctor.
^ It's almost nothing compared to what I dealt with all through my 20s.
Now I'm almost 32 and wanted to share the most important points of how I got better.
Breakdown of physical meds/herbals and medical actions that helped me in order of usefulness:
-Moving out of condo with mold problem
-CBD Oil
-Terry Naturally's Pain relief curamin
-Doxycycline for 1 month (***Early on getting my illness, 1 month of Doxy is what cleared the swollen knees, ice pick headaches
-Finding an LLMD ~4-5 months into my illness
-Going gluten free
-LLMD put me on dong quai and I got my period back in the same month (after 6 months of nothing)-
-cats claw
-NAC
-green tea with chamomile at night
-magnesium before bed is a MUST — at least 800 mg/night)
-Leaving my LLMD at the 8 year mark
-Getting a new remote doctor who wants to take me the rest of the way that my LLMD couldn't figure out
-Allimax x1 a day now
-x1 Biocidin
-Currently on and off a very small dose of Eluthero
Things that helped me get mentally better and live a decent life with lyme:
-Not letting asshole doctors get to my head when they said "Lyme disease, don't you think that's a little too much?"
-Self published a book about some of my painful experiences and it aided me a lot in part of my grieving
-Walk on a daily basis (started as soon as I was able to)
-Switched careers towards things better geared for lyme. Went from teaching to aerospace to copywriting remotely.
-Learned new things

2023.06.10 20:32 Wyrdletini r/hiddenwhitefur is taking a cat nap from June 12 to June 14 for 48 hours as part of the Subreddit Blackout protest
Introduction
On May 31, 2023,
Reddit announced they will charge third party apps (such as Apollo, Dystopia, Reddit for Blind, Luna for Reddit, and BaconReader)
high fees to access their previously free API. This impacts a lot of things. This
ELI5 post about it sums up why people are concerned about this. Subreddit Blackout
Thousands of subreddits will be shutting down for 48 hours from June 12th to June 14th in protest of Reddit charging for access to the API. Some subreddits will continue the blackout beyond 48 hours and some subreddits may permanently disappear. Our friends over at
blind are participating in the blackout. Some subs have already gone dark in response to an AMA with
u/spez on June 9, 2023. We will go dark for 48 hours. You will not be able to access this sub during this time.
FAQ
What is API?
- API is the technology that apps use to exchange data with Reddit.
How much is Reddit charging 3rd party apps to access their API?
What happened during the AMA with u/spez on June 9, 2023?
- On Friday, June 9, u/spez held an AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) to address these concerns. Please see this post for detailed a breakdown. TLDR: The AMA With Spez Did Nothing to Alleviate Concerns. He ignored substantiative questions, and the clearest answers he gave were profit driven. Additionally, many Redditors do not appreciate his treatment of the creator of the third party app Apollo.
How does this change affect accessibility?
Of note, this impacts people with disabilities who depend on third party apps to access Reddit in a fluid, customizable, and efficient way, since the official Reddit app and New Reddit don't provide the needed accessibility options.
Specifically, many visually impaired individuals rely on third-party apps to access Reddit, as these apps often offer enhanced accessibility features and compatibility with screen readers. By increasing the pricing for API calls, Reddit is effectively cutting off an essential lifeline for these communities, limiting their ability to engage, contribute, and participate in discussions. Our friends over at
blind have asked Reddit to make the official app accessible to them for the last three years and they have not done so. This decision further exacerbates the accessibility gap and hinders inclusivity, undermining the principles of an open and diverse Reddit community. On June 7, 2023, Reddit announced that they will not charge non-commercial apps focused on accessibility. However
Reddit needs to clarify which apps will be exempt since the vast majority of apps that currently focus on accessibility can be defined as commercial apps.
blind has compiled a
list of apps that meet users' access needs, and at this time only two apps are confirmed to meet the “non-commercial” requirements. You can
read more here. The blind deserve accessibility and it shouldn’t have taken a blackout to highlight this lack of support from Reddit.
Who else is impacted?
Won’t this blackout hurt individuals who need access to vital support groups on reddit?

2023.06.10 20:32 MarketingActual8475 AITA for telling my sister nothing she ever does is more important my wife’s school?
My wife decided earlier this year she wanted to get a Master’s Degree in business. She’s been working full-time and attending school full-time on nights and weekends. She’s taking summer classes so she can graduate sooner.
One evening when I wasn’t home from work, my sister, a single mother who lives with my parents, came by unannounced and just dropped off her kids, 6m and 3y, because she had something to do. My wife was flustered because she was trying to get a mini paper done, and my sister said f u, here are my kids and left.
I left work early and took the kids back to my parents, and I found out my sister had a random meetup with her best friend because her friend got dumped. She thought this was important enough to disrupt my wife. We argued over how irresponsible my sister is, and I told her, “Nothing you ever do in your life will be as important as my wife’s school or career.”
My sister started crying about how I was being so unfair to her. It’s hard for her as a single mom at her age. I told her you made that mistake twice and thought everyone would help you. I’m not, and my wife’s not. Raise your own kids.
This made my sister cry harder, and my mom kicked me out of the house for disrespecting my sister and her children. This whole thing could have been avoided if my sister didn’t act entitled to think she could drop off her kids in the first place.

2023.06.10 20:32 indyman_123 At a Glance: 'Gardens of the Moon' - Book 1, Chapter 1
Link(s) for previous post(s) -
Book 1: Pale
Epigraph 1 - (had to put up the whole thing really; won't be doing this for every epigraph; just the imp. ones)
In the eighth year the Free Cities of Genabackis established contracts with a number of mercenary armies to oppose the Imperium's advance; prominent among these were the Crimson Guard, under the command of Prince K'azz D'Avore (see Volumes III & V); and the Tiste Andii regiments of Moon's Spawn, under the command of Caladan Brood and others.
The forces of the Malazan Empire, commanded by High Fist Dujek Onearm, consisted in that year of the 2nd, 5th, and 6th Armies, as well as legions of Moranth.
In retrospect two observations can be made. The first is that the Moranth alliance of 1156 marked a fundamental change in the science of warfare for the Malazan Imperium, which would prove efficacious in the short term. The second observation worth noting is that the involvement of the sorcerous Tiste Andii of Moon's Spawn represented the beginning of the continent's Sorcery Enfilade, with devastating consequences.
All this seems intimidating to say the least!
Epigraph 2 - About a mother lamenting for her boy (it seems), who's now a young soldier, but who's not yet seen what war is about ("bright heart not yet cooled to hard iron").
Is this close to what it's depicting, or...? Chapter 1
- 1161st year of Burn’s Sleep; 103rd year of the Malazan Empire; 7th year of Empress Laseen’s Rule.
QUICK RECAP - 7 years since the events of the Prologue.
- Laseen is now the Empress, and the Empire is ever spreading under her rule.
- An old witch, Rigga [1st app.] is alongside a young fisher girl (unnamed) on Itko Kan, watching on as a Regiment of soldiers pass them by.
- The witch is speaking about some prophesies concerning the girl, but the latter is seemingly uninterested. Rigga seems like a cool charac… oh, never mind. She’s dead. (by a swinging gauntleted hand from one of the soldiers, hitting her in the head, and killing her). Well... anyways, moving on.
- With the soldiers now out of sight, and old Rigga lying dead at her feet, the girl encounters two men – Cotillion [1st app.] and Amanas [1st app.], along with a sudden appearance of 7 massive hounds out of nowhere, who then follow the path the soldiers had taken when the latter, shorter man gives the order to do so.
- After a while, screams can be heard. The girl, now a witness, is engulfed by shadows through Cotillion, who says that she’s now “a pawn of god.”
- Some time later, Adjunct Lorn [1st app.] arrives at the horrifying scene where the men, women, and horses of the 19th Regiment of the Itko Kanese Eight Cavalry have been brutally massacred. Along with the locals, over 400 have been killed. (Jeez!)
- Paran, who wanted something challenging, and was hungry for prestige, has now joined the Malazan Army. Now as a Lieutenant, he’s overseeing the investigation of the carnage.
- After discussing his opinions with the Adjunct to the Empress in his usual fearless, uncaring, and confident manner, Paran is hand-picked by Lorn into her staff, to become an aide to the Adjunct. Lorn is sure that the merciless murder of so many is a diversion from something much bigger, and that gods and sorcery are now involved.
- Lorn is no ordinary woman herself. She’s young, dangerous, and a mage killer. The one who hunts down and kills mages. The scorpion in the imperial pocket. And who arrived in Itko Kan thanks to “eerie magical Warrens”. (first mention of the magic being used)
- Meanwhile, Staff Seargant Aragan [1st app.] is faced by a very young, hardly 12/13 year old girl, named Sorry [1st app.], who is there to be recruited into the Malazan Army, specifically under the command of High Fist Dujek Onearm – Onearm’s Host, which is currently overlooking the Genebackan Campaign (which is apparently in a mess of its own).
- Paran is tasked to gather intel of the massacre from a nearby town named Gerrom. But when he reaches there, it’s completely deserted. Even worse, inside the Imperial Constabulary, everyone is dead, killed by magic.
Sweat and death clung to the air thick as gauze.
The dark bloom of sorcery was a stain few cared to examine too closely. It had a way of spreading.
OK, now that sounds like something, eh?
- A short while later, he’s met by Topper [1st app.], a Claw of unsurpassed skill who took the lives of Unta’s royal line. Also, loves the colour green, and wears a lot of colourful rings on both his hands. Oh, and also is apparently the Commander of the Claw itself. (although he persists that Laseen still commands it, and he just assists her)
- After a quick bite of food and a sip of wine, Topper guides Paran and his horse through the Imperial Warren.
Paran turned to see a curtain in the air tear open on the road, spilling dull yellow light. A Warren, the secret paths of sorcery. "Hood's Breath." He sighed, fighting off a sudden chill. Within he could see a grayish pathway, humped on either side by low mounded walls and vaulted overhead by impenetrable ocher-hued mist. The air swept past into the portal like a drawn breath, revealing the pathway to be of ash as invisible currents stirred and raised spinning dust-devils.
First look into the "Warrens". A short while later they came to a stone archway. It had been recently constructed, and Paran recognized the basalt as Untan, from the Imperial quarries outside the capital. The walls of his family's estate were of the same gray-black glittering stone. At the center of the arch, high over their heads, was carved a taloned hand holding a crystal globe: the Malazan Imperial sigil.
First look at the Malazan Sigil. - Passing through the archway, they land directly inside the the Hall of The Throne in Unta, where Laseen is sitting atop a throne of twister bone.
- After exchanging a few “pleasantries” with the Empress, Paran meets up with Lorn (who is casually dressing up while Paran enters, but when the latter turns in embarrassment, Lorn replies with “I’m not one for modesty.”). OK lass, fair enough.
- After discussing a few things, Lorn orders Paran to return to his home in the capital for now, and that there will be a reckoning/revenge for the carnage at Itko Kan. Paran answers straightforwardly (as usual) that he’ll be there when that time comes.
- Paran return to his family home, where he is met by Gamet [1st app.], the guard. Once inside, he’s greeted by Tavore [1st app.], his sister who’s a year younger. After very briefly discussing about their father and his business, she mentions that Felisin, the youngest sibling, is at her studies and that she would be happy to see Paran, but sad to know that he’ll be leaving soon. Before leaving, Tavore also mentions that Felisin is “too soft for this world, brother. For any world, I think.”
BEST OF: QUOTES / DIALOGUES The Empire's been grinding this land down for a hundred years. You was born in it. I wasn't. When I was your age Itko Kan was a country. We flew a banner and it was ours. We were free, lass.
Rigga to fisher girl.
Across the sea the Empress has driven her knife into virgin soil. The blood now comes in a tide and it'll sweep you under, child, if you're not careful.
Rigga to fisher girl.
You are now one with the body of Empire, Lieutenant. It commands you. You respond unquestioningly to its will. You are a small part of a muscle in that body. No more. No less.
Topper to Paran.
The Claw smiled. "You have begun to learn, Paran. Never be too easy with the knowledge you possess. Words are like coin—it pays to hoard." Topper
"Until you die on a bed of gold," Paran said.
BEST OF: SCENES / MOMENTS - The Itko Kan Massacre. 'Nuff said! (honestly, something about those four words has a different feeling about them. There's more Gravitas surrounding them, I feel personally. Whenever I think about the whole thing, it just feels like the start to something dark and dangerous. Is it just me?)
- Rigga's prophecies were something to ponder upon for sure!
FINAL THOUGHTS + THEORIES AND SPECULATIONS - There are a couple references present to the Prologue. Firstly, Paran pondering on the words "live quitely" by the Commander. Secondly, Laseen pointing out to Paran that he didn't take the Commander's advice of not joining the Army after all, and that the Commander himself didn't heed to hers (no detail about the latter is present though).
- From what I could gather, there's an unease, a kind of tension between Paran and Tavore it seems. On the other hand, Felisin seems to have a good bonding with Paran.
- Overall, a very good start imho. Of course, there's some names of people and places that you have no idea about, but I'm just enjoying the ride tbh!
A huge shoutout to 'Malazan: Search of the Fallen'. It was a massive help, and I hope to continue using this amazing tool. Credit where it's due.
Any feedback is always welcome. Hope you enjoyed.
Cheers!

2023.06.10 20:32 IelReaglia A PvP Battle Gone Wrong (Or Right?)
I just had to share this unexpected turn of events that took place in our recent D&D 5e game. Let me preface this by saying that I play a high-level Halfling Divination Wizard, and boy, did things take an interesting twist during a 3v1 PvP battle encouraged by our DM.
Before the encounter, I'd cast Contingency on myself. The plan was to trigger the spell Far Step once I cast Thunder Step, and little did I know just how crucial this decision would be. As the party's martial classes - a Fighter, a Hexblade Warlock, and a Rogue - surrounded me, I could feel the tension in the air.
The battle began, and thanks to my trusty Shield spell and a Portent roll, I managed to avoid taking any significant hits early on. As the party surrounded me proper, I unleashed a 7th level Thunder Step. The damage rolls were quite high, and the opponents' saving throws, partly thanks to yet another fortunate Portent roll, were abysmal. Then, my Contingency triggered, activating Far Step immediately. I of course teleported even further away from danger within the same round. It was a move they didn't see coming.
I was then easily able to hide from my bewildered opponents. After another round of teleporting to leave them with no idea of where I was, I cooked a Delayed Blast Fireball & put a Fire Shield on myself. Then, allowing them to find me, I let loose that cooked mote of fire, hitting them pretty hard...
When the smoke cleared and the dust settled after only 2 more rounds, I emerged as the sole victor of the battle. The sheer disbelief on the faces of my companions was palpable, mixed with a tinge of frustration and resentment. The game continued, but the atmosphere had shifted. They were upset with my unexpected reaction (which was to try my best not to die) and mainly because I had won against the odds, contrary to what the DM had envisioned for the story.
To be fair, I must commend our DM for not redacting anything throughout the game. We strictly adhered to the rolls of the dice, which created a truly immersive and unpredictable experience. Encounters were designed to be to the death, adding an extra layer of intensity to our campaign.
However, it seems my character's victory has left a sour taste in the mouths of the other players. While I understand their disappointment, I believe it's essential to remember that D&D is a game where the outcomes are shaped by chance, strategy, and a touch of luck. My victory was the result of careful planning, clever spell choices, and the fickle whims of fate. And, of course, a desire for my character's survival, given all of the time invested in him.
Curious to hear some thoughts on this...

That’s why, In Module 3, you’ll be given two powerful playbooks for creating an enchanting first encounter that instantly sets you above any other coach or course creator they may be following or considering along with you. MODULE 4 Automated Conversion Ecosystem #1 (ACE 2): The Ascension Amplifier The second Automated Conversion Ecosystem you’ll be working through overlaps with what’s traditionally referred to as “the middle of the funnel”. A murky, purgatory state that’s often the longest, most confusing, and challenging to do effectively. Many coaches and course creators have a bulk of their email list who will sit in this “in-between” state for 2, 3 or even 5 years before either becoming a customer or unsubscribing from the list. With the strategies and playbooks you’ll implement in Module 4, you’ll help “pre-customers” cross that chasm much faster; and come to clearer, more confident, and more empowering decisions about you and your program. 2023.06.10 20:32 stoned_ocelot I'm Not Selling! There do I get my free karma?
Seriously can we chill on the selling/not selling bullshit posts? We get it there's a lot going on right now thats not a good look for crypto.
If you have any doubts that the SEC, and probably the treasury are not out to get crypto I've got news for you. These lawsuits aren't to influence the people already invested in and interested in crypto, they're to sway public opinion to push the narrative that crypto is dangerous and full of scams, which to be fair, it is. That's not all of crypto though, thats the CEX's which even then are not as dangerous as people make them out to be (although yes you shouldn't have all your eggs in one basket, and preferably keep them in a cold wallet) and the shitcoins/memecoins that exist solely to rugpull.
Members of government, some not all, and different agencies such as the SEC are not dumb, they have interests to protect and one of those interests is maintaining a strong and stable dollar- which let's admit the dollar is a joke. One reason the US is such an economic powerhouse is because plenty of business around the globe is done in USD. If people start to lose faith in the dollar, a different currency will take the lead, probably the Chinese Yuan or the Euro. If people are leaving behind fiat USD for crypto, in the eyes of the government, this weakens our economic standing.
When it comes to CEX's and regulation,et's not pretend though that the SEC has made any true efforts to provide legislative guidance. Coinbase in particular has been asking for advisement, SINCE LAST YEAR, on what assets would qualify as securities and the SEC has outright denied their requests. This is public information.
Even the timing of these lawsuits has been ridiculous. Currently there are posts talking about whether or not the CEO of Coinbase committed insider trading offenses. CEOs, even at a CEX are required to disclose their sales and purchases well in advance. The CEO did not hear about an incoming suit and immediately choose to sell off in the same week, the trades were disclosed ages ago as quarterly withdrawals. Again this information is public and something the SEC would absolutely have knowledge of. So ask yourself why the SEC chose the specific date it did to serve Coinbase.
At the end of the day, selling or not selling you've got to see these lawsuits for what they are, bullshit pandering to uneducated masses to stay away from crypto because everything is a scam. They want to make it look unattractive, they want to make it difficult for exchanges to operate, and ideally they want crypto to not exist but the US does not exist in a sandbox.
Crypto and associated industry is worth over $1.15T. That's a shit ton of money that could be circulating within the US. There is a reason why they are pushing against that.
If you think these suits are the death knoll for crypto, you must be new because crypto as an industry has been put through the wringer time and time again. This is just another case of it. If you're telling everyone here to not sell, well as far as I can tell many aren't, and if you're hugely in the red, why would you sell? The markets do bounce back and you're already invested so wait out the storm. Bear markets aren't forever, but I'm certainly buying like crazy despite the chaos going on because eventually shit will go back to par.

The communities at

2023.06.10 20:32 Important-Section406 Need opinion(s)
I am a licensed drug and alcohol counselor and am fairly new to the field (just got my license 3 months ago) and have run into a situation that worries me. I work in a residential co-occurring facility and was given a new client last week who has been really disrespectful. He made it clear he did not respect women or authority. He had quite an attitude, missed groups constantly, would get up and walk out of group, and would take phone calls in group. He would make comments about one of our counselors skirts, would "hit on" our female director, yelled at our lunch lady asking her "you in the **** do you think you are" and told me flat out that "I don't like authority or anyone telling me what to do". One day he asked me for an all-day pass because he said his son was sick and in the hospital. Our director has been getting down on all of us for giving out passes; clients have to be in group. That is the rule, and I agree. I explained to him (again) the rules about going to group and that I am not allowed to give out anymore passes unless it is absolutely necessary . He got very upset at me and told me I did not give a **** about anybody and that I had "bad energy". I asked him "what can you do for your son while you are in here?" "I can be on the phone with him" he said. I said "all day?". Against my better judgement, I let this exchange go on and on in group when I should have stopped it. By the end of it all, we came to a compromise; I would let him have 5 minutes out of every group to call and check in on him. He agreed. Fifteen minutes later, he left my group and did not come back. I finally called in my site supervisor to meet with him and I. He told her I was an uncaring counselor, that I had bad energy, and he wanted a new counselor. I said "That sounds like a really good idea". My site supervisor counseled us and at the end we decided to work it out and work together. When he got up to leave, he bent down, put his arms around me and kissed me on my neck. My site supervisor was there, but she did not see him kiss me because his back was facing her. I was shocked, but did not say anything. I was so emotionally drained by all of this that I just let it go because I did not want anymore drama. The next day I was in our interdisciplinary team meeting and I told everyone that I was afraid of this guy and that I think our male counselor should take him. I explained what he did and stated that "I felt that he did that to show dominance over me". Our male counselor made the comment "you don't have to hug anybody". He made me feel like this was all my fault! Later that afternoon, my site supervisor said I would have to keep him as a client because our male therapist had a female client that was triggered by this client. I felt like I was kicked in the stomach; my own team did not have my back and my site supervisor cared nothing about my safety. I finally went into our director and told her what happened. She was very angry and said "he is out of here today". I was happy to hear that, but I was afraid for him to find out I am the one who got him discharged. I am afraid of him and he knows where I work and can easily find out where I live. I expressed this concern to my director and she said that " I don't have to tell him anything; just that he is discharge". That made me feel better, until today. I went into the office today (Saturday) to fill in, and one of my clients said "I heard about what happened". I asked her, "what did you hear" and she had some of the details right. The director told the patient he was being discharged because of me. I am angry and afraid. This guy has more than one domestic on his record, he hates women, and he hates me. I will be afraid every day now that he will be lurking somewhere behind me, or do something to my family. I am angry that my director did not take my feelings into account. They could have discharged him due to not attending groups, and for his disrespect of other staff, but that is not what they did. Should I let this go or go to higher ups? Should I quit? I don't know what to do! Any advice?

2023.06.10 20:31 AccomplishedPath4049 Are professional photos worth it for OLD?
I haven't tried OLD since before Covid so I'm setting up a whole new profile from the ground up. For pictures, I have plenty pictures of me doing my hobbies, pictures with friends and a few good selfies. But for the first picture women see, is it worth going to a professional photographer to get some quality photos taken? To give a little context, I'm for sure going to use Hinge and possibly Bumble. I also posted a few pictures of myself on
amiugly (under a throwaway) and the consensus was that I look pretty good but just needed a better haircut, which I've done.

2023.06.10 20:31 goatsahoy "What Animal Do You Lift?" is back online!
original post (from nine years ago):
https://www.reddit.com/xxfitness/comments/27h7f0/what_animal_do_you_lift_a_web_app/ the calculator was offline for a long while but all the infra things are finally upgraded, you can once again track if you have progressed from squatting a svelte wildebeest to a fledgling pacific walrus!
why is this post-worthy?
- when this first went live, it had a delightful reception, and in this current climate, it feels even more important to offer moments of joy to people wherever possible
- there are no ads, there's no data tracking (much less selling), i am paying fully out-of-pocket for this app and it'd be great to know my money is going towards providing some fun to folks (i.e., the app is being used)
