2023.06.10 19:29 Salty-Photograph5292 Break up

I work out of town as a weldemillwright. I work for a week or two and am home for a week or two and make most of the money for me and my partner. We had an argument about me being a liar. And she is saying that I lie all the time but the example of lying she’s referring to is I told her to drop me off at the air port at 1pm and she didn’t know that we had to leave before. Which is a communication problem not a lying problem… anyways this time she dropped me off in the middle of an argument and last thing she said to me was I need you to stay, and if you get out of this car I will never forgive you. I got out. (This is how we get our money) what should I do now we are broken up I think

2023.06.10 19:19 Equivalent_Length312 How are you dealing with the ICD check in Abyss? (no pyro hyper-carry) 12-1-2

At best, I have 1 min 20 seconds left to deal with those cryo heralds (after beating up mages).
I tried every sh*t (because I have no Pyro Carry except Dehya and Lv 20 Diluc). I tried Burgeon Thoma (~ Lv 90, Lv 7+ Talents, 200 ER, 500 EM, R5 Kitain here, C6) with Nahida and Kokomi but nah. At the 7:00 timer, half of their bar is depleted. He needs an enormous amount of energy, while Fav doesn't work and getting constantly frozen. I tried various electro comps as quick bloom, but it still takes too long. I tried XL (Lv 80, Lv7+ Talents, 200 ER, R5Fav, C6), but again not possible to make it in time. Heralds remain at 40% bar left. Dehya straight sucks here because of the same issue as Albedo suffers.
The only trump card I found is Nahida, Bennet and Jean. Nahida gets rid of that annoying water herald after quite some time (even if he decides to go out of range with that Beyblade ability). Thanks to the pyro infusion and constant self-pyro swirls, Jean and Bennet make it possible to clear. My question: same as in the title.

2023.06.10 19:18 yennedy Confused about first day, pre-trip

First ever cruise, thinking about booking virgin. It says the cruise starts in Miami USA, departing at 6 local time.
Is it normal to stay a whole night prior in Miami just to be 100% sure you don't miss the departure in case ur inbound flight is delayed, or is that overthinking it?
Also if it says they depart at 6, how much earlier than that do they allow people to board?
Is it easy to find the boarding point? I am worried I'll be THE ONE IDIOT traipsing up and down some port / harbor filled with ships totally lost and confused about where I'm supposed to board 😅

2023.06.10 19:16 zakian3000 B1551 - Maritime Fuels (On-Shore Power) Bill - 2nd Reading

Due to its length, this bill can be found here.
This bill was submitted by u/Waffel-lol on behalf of the Liberal Democrats.
Opening Speech by Waffel-lol
Madam Speaker,
Taking inspiration from many countries within Europe and their initiatives to combat carbon emissions from shipping, I am proud to present a concise bill that works in conjunction to see our maritime industry follow suit to achieve sustainability. Achieving significant reductions in CO2 emissions of maritime transport requires using both less energy (increasing energy efficiency) and cleaner types of energy (using renewable and low-carbon fuels). What this bill does is require ships at berth in British ports to connect on on-shore power, and imposes yearly greenhouse gas emission limits that rise to eventually see the use of harmful energy sources eliminated by 2050.
The first part of this bill deals with establishing the maximum fund of £2.64 billion that will see the necessary On-Shore power infrastructure, technology and capabilities established by the year 2025, to which the second part of this bill comes into effect by then. The time period does allow for ships themselves to adapt and ensure they meet the necessary capabilities and compatibility with the to be developed on-shore power infrastructure. Currently, upgrading electrical infrastructure is a really big challenge for ports and terminals globally, even impossible in some cases without the help of financial assistance which is why this is a necessity to further the achievement in CO2 emission reductions and transforming our infrastructure to provide sustainable replacements. This feeds into Part 2 of this bill which sets out the regulatory framework of administering and ensuring ships comply and adapt to the on-shore power requirements and the greenhouse gas emissions limitations that would aim to see usage decrease by at least 75% aboard ships by 2050.
This pragmatic and gradual approach that seeks to transform the maritime shipping fuel industry into one of clean and renewable energy is a bold plan that would work supplementing those of our biggest and key trading and shipping partners, and benefit the economy as we see long term costs shorter in energy use by weaning off the shipping industry’s use of fossil fuels for power. The European continent is where the UK dows around 40% of its trade in exports, and nearly 50% in exports, and given that some of our largest partners should as the Netherlands, Germany and France have all begun plans to develop on-shore power for maritime shipping, and mandate it, it is important we follow suit.
This reading will end on Tuesday 13th June at 10pm BST.

2023.06.10 18:50 MistakeReasonable411 Its ALIIIVE!!!

Greetings! I am looking for some good ol' constructive criticism on a deck idea. So I have been thinking for a long time about who should I pair my [[Kodama of the East Tree]] with, because everyone told me they work with everyone. I somewhat settled on [[Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist]] mostly for the colours. It would be a temur landfall/cascade combo deck with a lot of value pieces like [[Scute Swarm]], [[Phylath, World Sculptor]], [[Tireless Tracker]] and [[Rampaging Baloths]] for landfall anf [[Flamekin Herald]] and [[Averna, the Chaos Bloom]] for cascade. I really want it to be more wide of a deck than just some big beaters and I also want some fun combos (not necessarily infinite ones). So I just want to hear out some ideas about it. Would it work? Shall I look for a new partner for Kodama? What cards should I definetly use?

We have made contact with new providers to increase the client's availability to all corners of the world. We hope that there will no longer be any "Update failed" errors. However, if you had errors updating - you again will have to download the archive with the new launcher.
Globalisation
Times displayed in the game, including attack windows for PBs, will be displayed either in the server's time zone or local time zone, depending on the choice located in the settings. We also expanded the choice of currencies for purchasing coins, and expanded the amount of countries for payment processing.

We were greatly inspired by events organised by the community which revolved around hunting for rewards. And we have decided to add an experimental "Bounty board", which can be opened through the tavern.
The Bounty board is a place where you can place a bounty on a specific player, or on an entire guild. For now this is a test in which coins are the only currency: the client sets the price, and the bounty hunter receives coins minus the comission fee. Sinking allies will not be counted.

2023.06.10 18:24 labxplore Trying to figure out a whole home audio setup that works well with Home Automation AND let me bridge a Zone with speaker wires ending in a different spot than all others

Trying to figure out a whole home audio setup that works well with Home Automation AND let me bridge a Zone with speaker wires ending in a different spot than all others
I'm trying to plan an whole home audio setup that can be automated/integrated with HA but found out that speaker wires for Zone 2 end in a different place (Box B) than all other wires (Box A) :(

https://preview.redd.it/41iv1rwmu75b1.png?width=1054&format=png&auto=webp&s=fb9deb7cd5699ad1ffdd216ad4006dd7caf51b26
Details I know so far:
  • Would like to setup 5 independent zones with the ability to combine some. Most common combinations will be Zone 1 + 2, 1+2+3 and 4+5.
  • Input sources would be various: Media server, TV (wireless so may need a BT bridge or something), Airplay, Musical Instruments (thinking 2.4GHz transmitter to Media server), HA announcements. No more than 3 sources playing at the same time.
  • Speaker wire is 16 AWG, 4 wires where each run can be connected to a pair of speakers. All runs EXCEPT ZONE 2 end in the same place where the media serveHA server is. This is where I plan to place the Amplifier too.
  • There is a conduit with CAT5E between Box A and another location very close to BOX B, where I could try to pull new cable/wire if needed.
  • Ceiling speakers will be 8ohms (6ohms min) and 100-150W max.
  • Audio system would be used about 10%-15% of the day, so auto-sleep, auto-shutdown or independente zone shutdown would be helpful for power savings...
  • Entire setup should be local-only ( no cloud based, subscriptions solutions )
  • My first thought was to go with a Monoprice 6-zone amplifier or similar options but I'm getting stuck on how to connect Zone 2 wire speaker to the rest of the setup to allow for Zone 1+2 or 1+2+3 output.
Thoughts / Questions:
  • Would an amp like the Monoprice well suited for the type of speakers/power requirements?
  • Should I just run a new "patch" speaker wire between A & B and bridge that terminate on audio ports + banana plugs and connect to the other speaker wire already there for Zone 2?
  • Is there a setup that let me "cascade" the main Multi-zone amp with a local small amp just for Zone 2 but still centrally controlled + integrates well with Home Assistant?
  • Other options I haven't considered? (Sonos setup has a higher price tag but what concerns me the most is the past "brick-it" company behavior...)
  • Also taking suggestions on the best way to connect the TV and musical instruments wirelessly to the media serveamp.

2023.06.10 18:21 black-boots Security around the original Manhattan Project buildings

Something Marcus said about the security put in place around the “secret cities” still being in place jogged my memory.
I grew up in East Tennessee about 15 miles from Oak Ridge and my eighth grade class went on a field trip to the Department of Energy site that’s still in the town. There’s a museum about the history of the project, a campus that houses some of the worlds most powerful supercomputers, and at least two original buildings that were used in the enriching of uranium for use in atomic tests and bombs. The buildings were small and plain concrete blocks about two stories tall but inside they looked like they hadn’t changed at all from the 1940s. The room we saw in one building was long and narrow with a wall covered in small outlets and ports for wires, like a huge switchboard. I have no idea what was on the other side of the wall or what exactly was the purpose of this room. I mostly remember the shade of turquoise green (equal parts mid-century modern cool and mental institution despair) and the light wooden laminate that covered the big cabinets that were also in the room.
Something my classmates and I thought was weird was that we weren’t allowed to take any photos inside or outside of the buildings. The technology was ancient and hadn’t been used in decades. This was when digital cameras were starting to become popular and I was bummed to not be able to take a photo of the most interesting thing we saw that day (supercomputers are interesting but they just look like rows and rows of metal cabinets). I hadn’t thought about this trip for a long time and wanted to share what it’s like to be at an original Manhattan Project site.

2023.06.10 18:18 Odd-Negotiation5087 Confused About WCT Express Reservations

Hi all,
I’m trying to make a reservation on the WCT Express, but I’m a little confused and hopefully someone can help me out.
The site says that it’s most economically to book a return trip, but it doesn’t give me the option to book my return from another location (ie, I’m taking the bus from Victoria to Bamfield, but I want to return to Victoria from Port Renfrew). I’m confused by the fact that the site encourages return trips (by giving a 20% - 40% discount), but at the same time it doesn’t seem to anticipating that many people will be taking their return from a different location.
Am I doing something wrong here? Do most people just book two separate tickets?
thanks!

2023.06.10 18:17 mr_byu Overcoming Writer's Block with an iMac G4 17"

Overcoming Writer's Block with an iMac G4 17
As you can see in the background, guys, my main computer is a 2018 Mac mini that I'm using with a 24" Dell Ultrasharp IPS monitor. It's a powerful machine (six-core Intel Core i7, 32GB RAM), but it poses a small problem. It's so capable that it's difficult for me to focus on the actual work I should be doing, which in my case is writing.
Naturally, I tried using the "Do Not Disturb" mode to prevent notifications from popping up, but it wasn't enough. It's incredibly easy to get distracted when everything on the web (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc.) is just a click away, and everything loads instantaneously. Even if I make a resolution not to check Facebook, I still find myself searching for random things online, which often leads to the next thing, and before I know it, I'm reading a news article completely unrelated to my project. And even if it's research that's actually useful and connected to my writing, more often than not, it makes me scattered and unfocused when it comes to actually putting words down on paper.
I know that self-control is all it should take, but I found it challenging to remain calm and focused when sitting in front of an entertainment machine. I tried disabling the Wi-Fi and even uninstalling some apps, but it didn't quite work, it didn’t feel natural. On the one hand, enabling Wi-Fi and quickly looking up something is easy enough, so it doesn't act as a real restraint. On the other hand, I realized that what I need is not complete isolation from information. I just need the process of obtaining information to be difficult enough that I only do it if it's absolutely necessary.
That's when I remembered I had a beautiful iMac G4 that I bought a few years ago out of curiosity. It never really occurred to me that I could use it for something practical; I saw it more as a toy and a nice relic of computing history. I did some research and stumbled upon a post by a guy who used his G4 to "get serious work done" and only went back to his main computer for light and entertaining tasks.
To cut a long story short, that's what I'm experimenting with right now. In fact, I am writing these very words on the "sunflower" iMac, also known as the iLamp. The only compromise I allowed myself is using my Apple Wireless Keyboard (via a Bluetooth USB dongle) and the Magic Trackpad connected by a lightning-to-USB cable because I'm accustomed to these peripherals, and honestly, I find them very comfortable.
Here's the surprising part: it works. I don't know how or why, but the words are flowing effortlessly. I feel calm, uncluttered, and focused. I'm not completely cut off from the internet (my iMac has an AirPort card installed), so if there's something I absolutely need to check, I can fire up TenFourFox or use my iPhone instead. However, since both options require some effort (hint: browsing on the good old G4 is painfully slow), I often find that the thing I wanted to check isn't that important after all, or that it can wait at least.
When I’m typing away on the iMac G4, I'm doing what's most important: actually putting my thoughts on paper.
I can't remember the last time I felt so engaged in my creative work and so grateful to have a beautiful machine that makes effortless writing possible.
I hope this inspires some of you! :) Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like me to check in later to update you on how things are going with this experiment!

1 Gbps rural fiber deployments in Quebec
Hey, just want to post hopefully useful basic info for those who will soon get Cogeco fiber in rural Quebec.
I get symmetrical 1 Gbps up and down, with a ping time of 5 to 8 msec to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.
I have asked to install only they ONU (Sagemcom [email protected] 5681V) and no router. I have connected their 1 G Ethernet port to my UDM-Pro port 9 (1 Gbps). Their ONU also has a 10 G Ethernet port, which I don't use at the moment.
My router is getting a dynamic public IPv4 but surprisingly no IPv6. I will contact support next week on this aspect. I am pleased to find that the IPv4 is not on CGNAT.

2023.06.10 18:10 Miraweave One potential concern about the Herald changes.

I wanna open by saying that while I know some people are negative about the Herald quickness changes, I think that designwise they're fantastic and I'm super excited to play with them. Herald is currently pretty much the poster child of the "push every utility off cd, who cares what they do" problem, and I think tying quickness to upkeep skills is a great idea that fits really well with Herald's Whole Thing thematically, since Glint's gimmick is being the "everything is an upkeep skill" legend. Great design, great change, just need to make sure the numbers work out.

Quick note about the numbers

The only piece of information we have so far is that the new trait pulses quickness every three seconds. We don't have the actual number for the quickness duration yet, but I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that the number is exactly 3 seconds as well - basically every skill that pulses a boon at a regular interval pulses it at a duration that causes 100% uptime while pulsing and zero uptime after stopping pulsing. See Harbinger quick, for example. I could imagine reasons it'd be shorter (if they assume you'll always have Facet of Nature up, for example) but for this post I'm gonna assume the number is 3.

How they probably want it to play

Whatever the number is, I think that the intention here is likely that Heralds will be expected to have enough boon duration to build up a buffer of quickness, and the intended playstyle likely involves some amount of turning on upkeep skills to create a buffer of quickness, and then turning them off to generate energy for other things while your buffer expires and you repeat the process. This, to me at least, sounds pretty cool , and should be possible unless the base quickness duration is so bad that you need substantial boon duration to reach 100% uptime at all and can never create a meaningful buffer of extra quickness. This playstyle would also mean that there's a direct relationship between how much boon duration you take and how much energy you have available to do other stuff, because how quickly you build your buffer of extra quickness determines how often you can turn off your upkeep skills and go back to generating energy. Obviously there's no math here yet, but there's likely to be one concentration number that gets you 100% quick uptime with the assumption that you're spending energy on your best dps skills and nothing else, and a different number that does the same but lets you toggle your stuff off more freely to generate energy for roads, boonstrips, et cetera. That's obviously a big difference from current quickherald, but I think it's a neat thing and I'm excited to mess with it.

The potential problem

So, we have a potential "toggle upkeep skills on and off to balance quickness with energy for 100% uptime" playstyle, but we're pulsing our important boon only once every three seconds. If every other boon pulsing skill in the game is an indication, there's likely not any kind of UI indicator to tell you how long it's been since your last pulse/when your next pulse is coming, other than feel. What this means is that there's a pretty significant difference in the amount of boons a "toggle on -> build quick -> toggle off -> generate energy" (or toggle on -> build quick -> consume, for facets) rotation actually provides that's determined entirely by where in this mostly invisible cycle you toggle it off at all - if you get a quickness pulse every three seconds and you turn it off at 3.1 seconds that's great, if you toggle it off at 2.9 you've now lost (presumably) 3 (plus boon duration) seconds of quickness to a mistake that's likely going to be very difficult to track or even tell you're making. This sounds very annoying and finnicky, obviously.
Obviously this is all speculation since we don't know what the numbers are and it's possible that anets intention is "you have to always have an upkeep skill up and you need boon duration for even that to work" which would suck, but assuming the playstyle I've described here is possible at all, you're gonna end up with a situation where different herald players with the exact same setup can provide potentially very different levels of quickness based on whether or not they understand a timing that's not obvious or explained anywhere.

How you fix this

The solution, fortunately, is pretty easy: reduce the pulse interval and the boon duration. At one second pulses of one second of quickness (assuming my 3 second guess is correct), you'd end up with the exact same uptime with the same energy cost and everything, except that the potential punishment of toggling your skill off (or consuming your facet) at the wrong time is much smaller.
Anyway again this is all theoretical right now since we don't know the exact number or how the class will play as a result, but this one thing stuck out to me immediately as a potentially very annoying aspect of a change that I otherwise really like in principle. Thanks for reading.

2023.06.10 18:07 Gloomy-Mood5602 help with timing -- students please weigh in

i need a new laptop and a new phone and i was given a tech grant for 5K. I currently have the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) with 8GB of storage. My laptop crashes all the time or sounds like it is a Tesla spaceship taking off to mars. I also have the Iphone 12. i'm a college student and am not in school over the summer. My laptop works it's just not as fast and capable as i wished it to be. My phone works kind of but it gets hot super quickly and the battery life is weird. The mic is also not great and I have had some difficulty with the speakers (likely water damage). Please weigh in!! What new tech should i get? when?

2023.06.10 17:45 roycorderov tips o advices for my new proxmox server project [HELP]

hello pals I currently have an optiplex 7010 i3-3225 with 20gb RAM with several VMs with for example OMV as nas, an ubuntu for my ODOO system and other LXC with vaultwarden, pihole, wireguard and several wordpress and I want to install a router with openwrt, pfsense or mikrotik with 2.5gb ethernet ports so it works like everything on my proxmox server...
For this I am looking to make a better machine with better features and that is why I thought to start with a CPU xenon E5-2670/267090 V3 because they are cheap and in alixpress you can get good combos of cpu, motherboard, ram and m.2 super good and cheap...
but thinking about it, I have checked the TDP only of those cpus and they are between 120W-145W in idle so the energy consumption would go up a lot and my workflow, let's say... it's not high and it doesn't deserve to have so much 'machine' since the most constant use and the most consumption is the NAS with only 8tb of mechanical disk, then my landing pages in wordpress and nothing else... That's why I thought it could be an unnecessary monthly energy expense on my electricity bill.
now i started looking for other alternatives and i watched the video of '@christianlempa' on his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwlircveTHU with the same concerns as me and he built a server using a normal desktop for his networks where he recommends a 6-core, 12-thread processor 1- Intel core i5-10400 https://ark.intel.com/content/www/es/es/ark/products/199271/intel-core-i510400-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-30-ghz.html 2- Amd ryzen 5 3600 https://www.amd.com/es/support/cpu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-desktop-processors/amd-ryzen-5-3600 3- Amd ryzen 5 5600G (added by me) https://www.amd.com/es/products/apu/amd-ryzen-5-5600g
In the video '@christianlempa' talks about that he will use ECC unbuffered ram memories in his project because he will use disks with ZFS pool and here I have my question
Personally, the most I have used is raid 5 and now I have not had the need to use ZFS pools because I only have an 8tb disk. In fact, I think I have seen some videos where they showed some disadvantages of ZFS, my question is.
if I don't go to use in a near time the zfs, could i use some normal ram memories? ...Or apart from the zfs pool, are the ECC memories better or necessary for something else?
The reason is that where I live it is difficult to find ECC memories for desktops like amd and I would have to import them from amazon or ebay while all the other parts I can get here with no problems at all...
Could you help me and advise me better for my project? thank you

2023.06.10 17:38 Thisguy0987654321 Can I plug video game consoles into my spectrum cable box in 2023?

When I was younger I remember I use to play Wii on my cable box all the time, there was a channel that would display what’s on the AV ports, my current living room TV does not have a AV ports so I tried to use my cable box and i don’t remember how or what channel to be on, or if it even still works!
